Selection Guide
Foundry Dust Collection System FAQ
Choose the collection method from the dust source and operating conditions—not from air volume alone. Send us your casting process, workpiece details and target output. Our engineering team will recommend a suitable equipment configuration.
System selection
Which dust collector is suitable for a foundry?
Baghouse and cartridge collectors are commonly used for dry foundry dust, while sinter plate systems suit demanding fine-dust conditions. Wet scrubbers or combined treatment may be required for sticky, hot or process-specific fumes. The final choice depends on particle properties, temperature, moisture, air volume and the required outlet concentration.
What information is needed to size a foundry dust collection system?
Provide each dust source, process duty cycle, estimated air volume, dust composition and loading, gas temperature and moisture, duct layout, available space, local electrical supply and required emission limit. On-site measurements or process drawings improve fan, filter area and duct sizing accuracy.
Can one system collect dust from several foundry processes?
Yes, when the sources have compatible dust and gas characteristics and the duct network is balanced for simultaneous demand. Sources with different temperatures, moisture, combustible dust risks or treatment requirements may need separate collection branches or independent systems.
Application and quotation
Which foundry processes normally require dust extraction?
Typical extraction points include sand preparation and transfer, shakeout, molding, shot blasting, grinding, furnace charging, pouring and casting cooling. Capture hoods should be designed around the actual release point so dust is controlled without removing excessive process air.
Can the system be customized to an existing workshop?
Yes. The collector, fan, duct routing, hoods, discharge equipment, controls and filter media can be configured around the workshop layout and operating schedule. Photos, drawings and equipment locations help the engineering team prepare a practical retrofit proposal.
